“Once upon a time” this fable starts
But to others similarity soon departs
Because there is no happy end
Or silver lining around the bend

A carefree girl I used to be
Until this curse did capture me
A jealous witch had cast a spell
And trapped me in this living hell

A thing of marble here I lie
No twinkle left within my eye
Outstretched upon these mossy stones
My icy flesh and frozen bones

Days go by like drumming rain
A steady beat with no refrain
And locked within this solemn tomb
The hag has left me to my doom

I long to leave, my will is strong
But fate has trapped me here so long
A royal kiss could set me free
But no one left remembers me

My prince is gone, he passed away
He never found out where I lay
Forgotten by the world at last
I’m a statue from the ancient past

And here I’ll lay forever more
Staring up at heavens door
Where I can never think to tread
A member of the living dead

But still I wish with all my heart
At last this evil spell will part
And a handsome prince dressed up in mail
Will save me from this twisted tale
